Neurotoxins

A very fine needle is used for your neurotoxin injectable and is generally painless.  You may feel a small pinch and some light burning and a topical anesthetic is available, but typically isn’t required! Some post-injection swelling or light bruising is common and fades within a few days to one week.

Neurotoxins are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles by keeping the treated muscle from contracting and disrupting the surface of the skin. Following your body’s initial phase of healing- approximately 7-10 days, you’ll see the swelling decrease with optimal and effective results with the maintenance of a smoother complexion for up to three months following treatment. It is important to remember to avoid rubbing of the skin or aggressive rubbing initially to avoid disrupting the injected solution and allow it to settle where it is injected.

Neurotoxins have been tested and researched and are very safe and minimally invasive requiring no downtime after injection. You may resume all normal activities following the procedure with increased attention to skin protection and avoid rubbing the treated areas for 3-4 days following to allow the neurotoxin to settle and work effectively where it is desired and injected. You’ll likely experience swelling or a bit of bruising, which is common and recedes within the first few days.

Avoid any products that could thin the blood approximately 3-7 days prior- such as aspirin, ibuprofen, alcohol, or blood thinners. Please check with your doctor before discontinuing prescribed medications to ensure safety.

After treatment, avoid excessive sun and heat.  Proper skin protection and sun care should be taken with the use of sunscreen (SPF 25 or higher) and protective sun gear such as hats and sunglasses for the first 7 days post-treatment.  Avoid squeezing or massaging treated areas to decrease the risk of injection manipulation and neurotoxin adjustment or settling into non-affected areas.
